Geboren 1985 in Olten, wohnt und arbeitet in Zürich. Studierte Kontrabass an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK). Neben der Konzerttätigkeit als Kontrabassist Auftritte als Sänger, Gitarrist, Cellist, E-Bassist und Bediener diverser elektronischer Geräte. Stilistisch verteilt sich das Interesse dabei auf einen breiten Horizont von Jazz und freier Improvisation, über Theatermusik, experimentellen Pop und Spoken Word. Zurzeit in den Bands UASSYN, DAY&TAXI und dem Reto Suhner Quartett, sowie in den Soloprojekten Kingdom Behauptung und publish/perish.
Das Konzeptionelle an Musik, also das Kunsthafte und nicht das Musikantische daran, nehmen dabei zunehmend überhand. Eine Konstante bildet der immer wieder unterschiedlich geartete Bezug auf das Ironieverständnis der Frühromantiker, welches es nicht zuletzt wegen seines utopischen Potentials zu retten gilt – durchaus im Wissen darum, dass Ironie oft mit Zynismus oder trashigem Sarkasmus verwechselt wird und darum als überholt oder verpönt gilt.
Als Theatermusiker für verschiedene Produktionen verantwortlich, u.a. bei Tell/Zahhak von Mass&Fieber 2012/13 in Altdorf, Zürich und Teheran, Die Wand 2016 am Theater Aachen und als Musiker und Performer bei den Projekten CHURCH OF GOLD (2019) und No More F.O.M.O. (2021). Lehrtätigkeit an den Musikschulen Dietikon und Frauenfeld für Kontrabass, E-Bass und Pop/Rockbands, seit 2022 für Liedbegleitung/Gitarre am Institut Unterstrass in Zürich und seit 2023 für Bass an der Kantonsschule Küsnacht. Von 2015 bis 2022 Vorstandsmitglied der WIM (Werkstatt für improvisierte Musik) Zürich. Im Oktober 2017 artist-in-residence im Zürcher Jazzclub moods. Von 2018 bis 2020 Masterstudium in “Transdisziplinarität in den Künsten” an der ZHdK mit den Schwerpunkten Ironie, Zeigen und einer Theorieproduktion der Künste.

Besides his work as a double bass player, Silvan Jeger also plays the guitar, the electric bass and the cello and performs as a singer. He is broadly interested in Jazz and free improvisation, in music for theater pieces as well as in experimental pop and spoken word. Currently he is part of UASSYN, DAY&TAXI and the Reto Suhner quartet. Furthermore, Jeger is performing as Kingdom Behauptung, an experimental rap-project and releases solo recordings under the name of publish/perish.
The conceptual aspect of music, i.e. the artistic and not the musical aspect of it, is increasingly gaining the upper hand. One constant is the always different kind of reference to the understanding of irony of the early romantics, which needs to be saved not least because of its utopian potential - possibly in the knowledge that irony is often confused with cynicism or trashy sarcasm and is therefore considered outdated or frowned upon.

Silvan Jeger teaches in Dietikon and Frauenfeld double bass, electric bass and band lessons, since 2022 he teaches song accompaniment/guitar at the Institut Unterstrass in Zurich and since 2023 he teaches bass at the Kantonsschule Küsnacht. He was a board member of the Werkstatt für improvisierte Musik (WIM) Zurich from 2015 to 2022 and was artist-in-residence in the Zurich music club „moods“ in october 2017. From 2018 to 2020 MA studies in “transdisciplinarity in the arts” at the Zurich University of the Arts with main focuses in irony, showing/pointing and a knowledge production of the arts.
